Socrates
(470 BC-399 BC) Socrates was a Greek philosopher who lived in Athens more than 2,000 years ago. He is famous for his unique way of teaching, which is called the “Socratic method.” Instead of giving answers, Socrates asked questions to help people think for themselves. He believed that the pursuit of knowledge and truth was fundamental to a good life. Although he never wrote any books, his way of teaching influenced many thinkers after him, and he is considered one of the most important philosophers in history.
